Jazz trade Cody Williams to Timberwolves for Josh Green

The Timberwolves have kept a steady churn behind an eventful offseason, and a deal with the Jazz is officially on the docket.

Minnesota will trade Josh Green and cash considerations to Utah for Cody Williams and John Konchar, who was waived shortly after. ESPN's Shams Charania was first to report the news.

Green, a 6-foot-6 guard is entering his seventh NBA season out of Arizona. He was a key contributor to the Dallas Mavericks’ 2024 NBA Finals appearance.

Selected with the No. 18 overall pick of the 2020 NBA Draft, Green helped Australia to a bronze medal at the 2021 Olympic Games, also appearing for the national team in four games at the 2024 Olympics. He has appeared in 349 games (129 starts) with the Dallas Mavericks (2020-24) and Charlotte Hornets (2024-26).

Williams appeared in 67 games (41 starts) last season with the Jazz, totaling a career-high six games with 20-or-more points, including a career-best 34 points on March 15 against Sacramento. The 6-foot-8 forward averaged a career-best 8.8 points on 46.8% shooting, 3.0 rebounds and 2.0 assists in 24.3 minutes per game. He is the younger brother of Thunder swingman Jalen Williams.

Konchar, 30, has appeared in 363 career games (65 starts) in eight NBA seasons with the Memphis Grizzlies and Jazz, averaging 4.3 points on 46.9% shooting, 4.0 rebounds and 1.5 assists in 17.6 minutes per game.
